Slip Fit Exhaust System NotesScion Tc Exhaust System
Installation Instructions
Components
1 Stainless Resonator
1 Stainless Mid-pipe (Flanged)
1 Stainless Rear Section
1 Stainless Muffler
1 Stainless Rolled Tip Assembly
5 Clamps
This exhaust system is designed with a slip fit at each point where one pipe mates with another. Once the system is completely assembled, each joint can be secured with the clamps provided, by welding or by a combination of both. Keep in mind that if the system is completely welded, removal for drivetrain or other service will be difficult. The system has several connecting points, which need to be precisely assembled to achieve proper fit and alignment. The pipes are arranged with 2.5” Inside Diameter (ID) mating to 2.5” Outside Diameter (OD). They simply slide into place, but have approximately 1.5” to 2” of engagement to ensure proper sealing. After each joint is assembled with the proper amount of engagement, you can then use the provided clamps to seal the assembly. Be sure to install the entire system, and check position and alignment before tightening any clamps.
- Unbolt stock exhaust system, and remove from existing rubber hangers.
- Note: Leave the rubber hangers in place because they will be re-used.
- Take the flanged Mid-pipe 1st (only pipe with a flange on it), and insert the pipe into the existing hangers. Hand tighten the original bolts to attach the mid-pipe to the original “S” pipe. Do not fully tighten the bolts in case you need to move the pipe for better alignment.
- Slide the resonator over the outlet of the mid-pipe, and make sure they are properly engaged (1.5”-2” of overlap) and lightly clamp the inlet end.
- The other end of the resonator attaches to rear section.
- Place the hanger rod on the rear section in the original rubber hangers, then insert the outlet of the resonator into the rear section pipe and make sure it’s properly engaged (1.5”-2” of overlap). Then lightly tighten the clamp.
- Now attach the tip section and lightly clamp it to the muffler.
- Take the newly assembled muffler section and place it in the hangers. Then slide the muffler section and rear section together making sure all pipes are properly engaged. Lightly tighten the clamps on each end.
- Check the fit and alignment of the system, make any necessary adjustments, then tighten all clamps. Now you’re ready to go out an enjoy the added power and great sound that this system delivers.
